In 1993, a small group of dedicated and concerned employees believed that by forming an employee group that represented the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered employees of AMR, they could better advocate gay concerns in the workplace and help put American Airlines and American Eagle in the forefront regarding gay workplace issues. That belief became a reality with not only the formation of GLEAM; but, it also paved the way as the foundation to the Diversity Advisory Council and AMR's entire diversity program. Since becoming a recognized Employee Resource Group of AMR over 15 years ago, GLEAM's main focus has been to provide a work environment that gives each employee at AMR the opportunity to live their lives freely and for who they are. We believe in nothing more than equality for our employees and our customers alike and to be treated fairly.
